Mavangane Secondary School

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of Marion Spence and Rotary, we were able to supply the young ladies at Mavangane School in Ixopo with a pack of self-clipping sanitary pads that will last them for 5 years. The girls ranged in age from Grade 8 – Grade 12 and were a pleasure to talk to. They were delighted with the fact that they were going to not have to worry about where to find sanitary pads for the next 5 years.
Mooi Mthetwa spoke to the girls in Zulu which ensured that the message about Puberty and Menstruation was not missed on the girls. Mooi also spoke to the girls about the importance of focussing on their education and their future. Mooi herself didn’t have sanitary pads when she was a young girl and she tells the girls that they are very privileged to have been given these pads to help them finish their schools and reach their dreams. It was a beautiful day and all thanks to Marion and John for their continued commitment and dedication to helping the people of South Africa.
